North Way Family,
It seems that we say this every December, but perhaps the reminder is just that important – Jesus is what makes Christmas merry.
This year has been incredibly difficult. This year, likely more than any season we have ever lived through, we must fight to keep our hearts focused not just on what has seemingly been taken from our lives. Rather, we must keep our eyes fixed on what has been given. I say this because that is where hope, peace and joy rests … in Jesus.
I have been meditating on the beauty found in Isaiah 9:6-7. These words reframe my perspective when all that has been taken wants to dominate my sight. Meditate on this passage. Recall to mind who Jesus is, and the lifesaving truth that everything we could ever need is found in him alone.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
This coming weekend we will continue in our Twas the Night series, where we are looking closely at the scriptures that describe Jesus’ entry to our world. Worship services are essential for our souls, perhaps now more than ever. Join in online or at one of our in-person gatherings.
The Lord is at hand,
