About Panama
This Central American country is bordered by Costa Rica and Colombia and situated between the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean. Commonly known as the “door to the seas,” Panama is a narrow land bridge, or isthmus, connecting North and South America. This beautiful country’s land is filled with mountains, rain forests, beautiful white-sand beaches, and 1,500 islands. A fun fact: the national flower of Panama is a white orchid called the Flor del Espiritu Santo, or Flower of the Holy Spirit.
We are excited to partner with Jon and Bianca Fowler and their boys (Ethan, Ezra, and Eli) in Panama with Word of Life International Ministries. Jon and Bianca are originally from the Pittsburgh area and have served together in ministry with youth since they were teenagers themselves. Jon is the director of the Word of Life Panama team which consists of about 30 missionaries from several different countries. The focus of the ministry is to reach children and youth with the Gospel and disciple and equip them through Biblical teaching to reach the next generation. Working in every context from jungles to the urban setting of Panama City, Word of Life ministers to youth in the area through camps and Bible clubs in local churches around the country.
