About Thailand
Full of rolling hills, mountains, plains, and a long coastline, the country of Thailand boasts stunning scenery and the title of the “Land of Smiles.” Thailand earned this title because here, a smile is much more than just a smile. There are at least 13 different types of smiles a Thai person may express, and each one has its own specific meaning.
The most prominent religion in Thailand is Buddhism. In Thailand, to be born Thai means to be born Buddhist. However, the identifier of “Buddhist” is more of a cultural standard than anything else. Similar to how “Christian” is a common title those in the Western world might identify with, the average Thai person might claim they are a Buddhist even though they don’t follow or observe any of the rituals. With recent economic stress in the past years, many Thai people have fallen away from the Buddhist traditions. From a mission’s perspective, now is a critical time to go and share the Gospel in Thailand as many people are searching for a deeper meaning to their life besides capital gain.

Father, as we finish preparations for our mission trip to Thailand, give us peace and for the events that are about to transpire. Also, help us walk in Your peace, truth and grace. Let our actions and words reflect Your glory. Amen
