IRA Donations
Thank you for your interest in making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) through your IRA to North Way.
What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution?
A QCD allows individuals age 70½ or older to direct funds from their IRA to a qualified charity, such as North Way. These distributions can count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and may provide potential tax benefits.
You may want to consider a QCD because the distribution is excluded from taxable income, which can reduce your taxable income by up to the IRS-allowed annual limit and may help you remain in a lower tax bracket or avoid higher Medicare premiums.
Important Requirements
Funds must be sent directly from your IRA custodian to North Way.
If you receive the distribution first, it will be treated as taxable income.
Eligible Accounts
- Traditional IRAs
- Some inherited IRAs
Other retirement accounts may qualify once contributions have stopped. Check with your financial planner to confirm eligibility.
