School Fun & Family Dinner

Today we taught at the Foreign languages camp at Huaisak Wittayakhom school.

There were about 165 students in both English & Chinese camp. (Pic 1) Of those, 103 attended our English camp, which ran the same way as our previous classes (Daily Conversation, Finance/Budget, Creation Storytelling, Basic commands). This school is more remote so the students had less familiarity with English. For some, this was their first opportunity to read, write, and speak English with someone.

What impressed me so much today was how much FUN the teachers & administrators have with the kids. Everyone was genuinely having a really good time together, laughing and dancing at the opening/closing assemblies of the day. It was heartwarming.

I had a teen girl ask me (by way of Google translate) if I’m a Christian. She said she assumed I was a Christian since I’m an American. Sadly I had to explain that Christianity is not as synonymous with America as Buddhism is to Thailand.

The kids loved that 2 of our trainers were teenagers! They related to them so well, especially with the 6-7 phenomenon, ha ha.

After school we returned to the homestay for a night in with our S2S students. (Pic 2) They prepared a wonderful meal for us, we sang worship songs together in Thai, shared testimonies of faith, and exchanged gifts with our prayer partners (Pic 3). I already know this will be the highlight of the trip that I remember most fondly! Everyone person involved with this ministry (student or leader) has such a special soul and has forever connected with ours.
