Hola! Camp was absolutely incredible! This weekend was filled with fun and relationship building through games, activities, worship, Bible studies, and sharing meal times together.
The theme of camp was “In Focus” and specifically directed towards worship. The campers learned lessons about reverence and honoring the Lord by placing him at the center of our lives. The CCI staff (Christian Camping International) used incredible creativity and extensive planning and preparation to create activities and visuals that helped each camper solidify all they’d been taught in their heads and hearts.
Our North American team brought games and crafts for the kids to enjoy the second afternoon, and we were blown away by their creativity and artistic skills! A highlight of this camp each year is playing on a tarp of instant slime that we bring with us! It filled us with so much joy to watch their smiles as everyone played and laughed together.
The final night at camp, our team shared our testimonies with our small cabin groups that we spend the whole weekend with, and the Lord moved in powerful ways through that time of sharing and conversations and answering questions. Being in small groups helped us become very close to these kids and built a foundation of trust to have deep conversations.
After making breakfast over campfires together and worshipping, we packed everything onto the buses and rode with the kids back to HOPE for Honduras where we dropped them off with tearful goodbyes and many hugs! It’s hard to describe the love we have for these phenomenal and sweet students and staff members that we came to know so quickly. Continually praying for each person that they would continue to draw near to the Lord and experience his love and presence in a powerful way like how we encountered him at camp these few days. We pray that as the campers share their experiences with their families and neighbors that they would spread the good news of the light of Christ and how he moved in their hearts to encourage others.
Our team traveled to Valle de Angeles where we are exploring more of Honduras and debriefing our experience before we return home. It’s been amazing to hear from each person the ways that they’ve seen God work through all different teams and people this week!!! Thank you for all your prayers and support, and we ask that you continue to cover us, Lisa, Hope for Honduras, our host families, translators, and CCI in prayer as this week concludes and moving forward. Gracias a Dios (Thank you God) for the ways you have revealed yourself and worked in and through us so far!
