Today we visited HOPE for Honduras, the missionary school we are serving alongside this weekend. The team split into multiple smaller groups to compete different service projects for the ministry. One group traveled up the hill to the other campus where the preschool is for kids in the neighborhood; They assisted the teachers with lessons, crafts, games, songs, and snack time! The second group also journeyed up the mountain to serve food on the streets to specific families that HOPE supports. They carried the food up to each street corner and served it with tortillas. Another group took dried goods from home to homes gifts that were sponsored by another mission team from Texas. The last group stayed I’m the classrooms and assisted the teachers with English spelling tests, lessons, and various aspects of the school day!
We then got a chance to meet and get to know the students that will be coming to camp with us, and we split into our cabin groups to start learning names and playing games! The team went back to our host families’ homes for the last night for a little while.
Prayers today are for HOPE, the staff, the students, and the people in the surrounding neighborhood which can be a very challenging place due to poverty and gang activity/control. We pray that this ministry continues to spread the love of Christ and that those living nearby would come to believe and be changed by the Gospel. For our team, we look forward to camp and all the energy and sustainment we’ll need for the coming weekend. Thanking to Lord for allowing us to join the work already being done in this city!
